Chaoxiong Zhang

Dr. Chaoxiong Zhang is a cultural anthropologist and postdoctoral fellow in the China Academy of Social Management/School of Sociology at Beijing Normal University and the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences at Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus. She holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis. She was a postdoctoral fellow from 2019-2020 in the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Hong Kong.

Her research focuses on addiction studies, public health intervention and governance, and anthropology of moralities. She is also interested in studies of ethnic minority groups and development studies. She is writing a book manuscript on the moral experiences and addiction treatment trajectories of Chinese drug users.
